About the Rover Climbing Skin Package

Simplicity, reliability, and efficiency defined. If you want a no BS product that will work for you every time, look no further. The Rover is here.

Rover ski skins utilize the super-efficient Quick-Snap tail clip which is adjustable up to 8cm. The wire tip clip is simple, unbreakable, and will fit virtually any ski tip. BSMP bombproof plush provides the grip and durability people have come to expect from nylon with surprising gliding performance thanks to low-angle fibers. As always, BSMP’s best in the business self-renewing skin glue will go to work for you no matter the conditions. To top it off, these skins come tapered at the tail to shed unnecessary weight and drag. We recommend these climbing skins for any skis but those with the most aggressive twin tips or off-set tails.

Product Add-ons

Cheat Sheets:

A strong sheet of mesh which can be used between your folded skins for ease of pulling apart.

Note: Cheat Sheets are not meant to protect your glue. Store the skins glue-to-glue and they’ll last longer.

Staying Alive in Avalanche Terrain:

Staying Alive in Avalanche Terrain, by Bruce Temper, is the #1 BSMP-recommended book for Avalanche Education. Comprehensive, insightful, and an entertaining read, it’s tough to beat this resource for avalanche self-education. Get it at a discount when you add-on to any pair of climbing skins.

From the publisher:

The more you know about snow stability, the better your travel and rescue skills. And the sharper your decision making, the better you’ll be able to avoid avalanche danger and have more fun in the winter backcountry. In Staying Alive in Avalanche Terrain, 3rd Edition, acclaimed snow and avalanche expert Bruce Tremper provides easy-to-understand avalanche safety tips and skills, including the latest snow research and techniques for evaluating snowpack, as well how to rescue companions in the event of an avalanche.

We recommend that customers use the tail width of their skis as a reference for a standard skin fit. So, if the tail of your ski is 110mm wide, we would suggest a 115mm skin. For those who desire extra grip, purchase a skin wide enough to cover the entirety of your tip. For those desiring extra glide, get a skinnier skin based on your ski’s width underfoot and cut the skin straight to reveal more base at your tip and tail.

Absolutely! Our tip connectors are designed to work universally by slipping the notch of the connector over your tip rather than encapsulating the entirety of the tip within the clip. This is a secure and easy-to-use system no matter the shape of your skis.

What if I want to use my own tip and tail connectors?

Rover ski skin Reviews

  1. Lily Robles

The jungle is a beautiful color/pattern but the skins aren’t sold automatically with a bag, or the mesh backing (which you NEED) like Black Diamond’s…It “seems” less expensive than other products but you actually get less….plus, if you have ski shop cut them for you they charge more bc they are more difficult to trim. Seems like those should be standard with the gear.

      Hi Lily,

Thanks for your feedback! If needed, we do offer mesh Cheat Sheets as an add-on to make your skins easier to pull apart. Most people prefer to go without Cheat Sheets, so we do not include them in our standard package in order to allow people to only pay for what they use. Don’t worry – the skin glue has a short break-in period and will get much easier to pull apart after a handful of uses (you can even pull them apart at home to speed up this process).

Enjoy your winter, and let us know if you ever have any questions or concerns.

  2. Nick Thompson

Best skins I’ve ever used. These things climb like nobody’s business and the glue is phenomenal in cold or wet conditions. Plus, the new jungle graphic is easily the coolest skin graphic to date. A++++
